Welcome to West Wales Counselling & Psychology Services

Established in the year 2000 as a professional counselling agency, West Wales Counselling & Psychology Services is one of the first home-grown Welsh companies to work in the field of employee assistance.

Our specialism is the provision of employee counselling schemes and related psychologically orientated training for organisations in both the public and the private sector.

Our Associate Counsellors and Associate Trainers are qualified and experienced professionals living and practising in the area. All abide by the codes of practice of professional bodies such as the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) or the British Psychological Society (BPS).

Our current corporate clients include: Ceredigion County Council, The National Library of Wales, the Institute for Grassland & Environmental Research, Ceredigion Local Health Board, Cymdeithas Tai Cantref, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority and Milford Haven Port Authority Group.

Janet Garner - Director

MA Oxon   Diploma in Psychological Counselling  BAC Accredited Counsellor (1990)

Janet has been a professional therapist and trainer since 1988, following a career in education. In addition to her private practice, she has worked in a university counselling service, as a GP practice counsellor and for various Employee Assistance Programmes and other staff counselling schemes. She was first accredited by the British Association for Counselling (now BACP) in 1990 and she has run her own employee counselling and training consultancy for some years. Janet returned to live in her native West Wales in 1999.

Hector Walker - Clinical Advisor

BA Psych, MSc Couns Psych, Chartered Counselling Psychologist

Hector has been working as a Counselling Psychologist since 1997. Currently works for Powys NHS Trusts’ Psychology Department, specialising in Adult Mental Health. As well as his clinical caseload, Hector is involved in the supervision and training of other mental health professionals. He lives in his native county of Pembrokeshire.
